The Role
As a DevOps Engineer, you join a chapter of experienced engineers who enable application teams to deliver value safely and at speed. You work at the intersection of software engineering, cloud infrastructure, and operations.
Your mission is to make it easy for application teams to build, deploy, and run their services with confidence. You design and maintain the shared tooling, automation, and conventions that the rest of the engineering organisation relies on every day.
This is a hands-on technical role with strong collaboration components. You will spend your time writing infrastructure code, evolving CI/CD assets, supporting application teams, and contributing to internal engineering documentation.
What You Will Do
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that automate the path from code to production.
- Write infrastructure as code to provision and evolve our cloud environments in a repeatable, reviewable way.
- Operate container-based workloads on a managed Kubernetes platform across multiple environments.
- Improve observability by designing dashboards and alerts that help teams detect and resolve issues quickly.
- Strengthen identity and access practices through managed identities, role-based access, and clean separation of environments.
- Support application teams in their day-to-day deployments, troubleshoot together, and unblock them.
- Contribute to internal engineering documentation and help onboard new colleagues.
- Participate in agile ceremonies, refine work together, and contribute to multi-team initiatives.
What We Are Looking For
Mandatory
- Solid hands-on experience with a major public cloud (Microsoft Azure preferred).
- Production experience with Kubernetes and containerised workloads.
- Strong CI/CD background, comfortable with pipeline-as-code.
- Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code.
- Comfortable with Git and modern code-review practices.
- A production-oriented mindset: you take ownership of what you ship and care about reliability and security.
- Clear written communication in English; able to produce structured technical documentation.
- Collaborative attitude, comfortable working with developers, security colleagues, and external partners.
Nice to Have
- GitOps experience and exposure to declarative continuous delivery.
- Familiarity with API gateways and modern ingress/edge tooling.
- Experience designing dashboards and alerting as code.
- Awareness of compliance frameworks relevant to regulated industries (such as ISO 27001, DORA, NIS2, or SOC 2).
- Experience working in a scaled agile setup.
- French or Dutch language skills (working language is English; bilingual context is a plus).
What We Offer
- A meaningful role in a cooperative that has been a trusted technology partner of the Belgian insurance sector for decades.
- A team of experienced engineers who care about craft, learning, and continuous improvement.
- A modern engineering environment with strong automation, clear conventions, and active investment in our platform.
- Flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to have real impact from day one.
- A competitive package, including the usual Belgian benefits.
